The Bench.

Do you remember the time we spent, sitting on the bench? Do you remember? Do you?
All the hours that we spent, talking about nothing, nothing at all.
Do you remember all the jokes, the things that made us laugh like a bunch of retards out of control?
So do you really remember all these things? Do you really? Do you?

One day will you look back? Remember all the fun we had? or will you just forget about me?
will you just forget about me?
cause I won't. I won't. I won't.

and as the years pass, as you look out of your window, and all you see is snow.
Will you get so cold, you erase me from your soul.
or will you look back at our pictures? the photos we took together? with all our stupid pose.
then will you really remember all these things? Will you really? will you?

One day will you look back? Remember all the fun we had? or will you just forget about me?
will you just forget about me?
cause I won't. I won't. I won't.

Do you remember the time we spent, sitting on the bench? do you remember? do you?

I wrote this song for you, for me, for us.

Open Your Eyes.

to just be able to relax, that's what I want, that's all I want. To just be able to do absolutely nothing, without someone ordering me around. to just bum around, so to speak. But alas, in this world that we're living in, it ain't possible. I gotta go out, gotta study, gotta work towards a career so that I'll be able to get a stable job in the future. That's what society tells us right? work now relax later. my question is, when exactly is that later?

you go to primary school and study hard for UPSR to get in a good secondary school. you study hard for PMR to get in a good form 4 class. you study hard for SPM to get in a good college. you study hard to get in a good university. you study hard to get a good job. you work hard to get a better position, a promotion. and then you keep working hard till you reach the peak of the ladder, till you're at the top of the world.

is this the life that I want to live?

the little things in life, that's what will pull us through. to be able to appreciate the small things in life that brings us joy. minute things that have a huge impact in our lives, whether you realize it or not.

things like dinner time with family, hanging out with friends, or even just listening to music. it's amazing how listening to your favorite song can affect your mood.

as I study for my biology exam on wednesday, the last paper of my A2 exams, while snow patrol plays in the background, I think to myself is it worth it? this pursue of a 'normal life'? this race that we're all in? all this hard work that only causes more hard work?

and then open your eyes starts playing, and I forget it all.
peace.

The West Indian Manatee

It's like a floating round blob with flippers.

The West Indian Manatee (Trichechus manatus) is a large aquatic mammal of the order Serenia. They are found in shallow coastal areas where seagrass beds or freshwater vegetation flourish. They are gentle, slow-moving animals that are completely herbivorous. The West Indian Manatee population is estimated at only about 2500.

West Indian Manatees have no natural enemies. However, a large number of manatee fatalities are from human-related activities such as ingestion of fish hooks, litter, and entanglement in nets and destruction of its natural habitat. However, the most serious threat that the manatees are facing is collision with watercraft.
A 2000 National Geographic article stated that 900 manatees had been killed by boats since 1994. Manatees cannot hear the low frequency sounds emitted by boats and thus do not know that they are in danger in order to get out of the way.

The reproduction rate for manatees is low. They are not sexually mature until they are five years old and only one calf is born every two to five years. Due to their low reproduction rate, a decline in manatee population may be hard to overcome.

They are protected under federal law by the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and the Endangered Species Act of 1973 which make it illegal to harass, hunt, capture or kill any of these marine mammals.
As a result of the Endangered Species Act, the Florida Manatee Recovery Plan was developed and is coordinated by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The plan is geared towards recovering manatees from their current endangered status. Site-specific boat speed zones were developed in 13 counties where manatee population is relatively high. This step is to reduce the likelihood of watercraft collisions.

The scientists at Florida Atlantic University have developed a high frequency warning device that is to be attached to boats to warn manatees of a boat’s presence. The Save the Manatee Club was established in 1981 and advocates legislation on behalf of manatees, and raises funds for equipment used in manatee rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Large amount of research is also being carried out to learn more about the West Indian Manatee in hopes of learning more about this aquatic mammal and finding new ways to protect and conserve it.

Flashback

Hey guys, it's May 11th, the first paper of my A2 exams is tomorrow and I got so bored of studying I decided to post something.

So, it's the middle of the year already. Time seems to pass as fast as a Bugatti Veyron. It's already been one and a half years since I sat for SPM and finished form 5. Now, I'll be going off to England in September.

Recently, I found myself thinking about the past alot. from the early days of form 1, to being a senior in form 5, and then about the first few months of college, and just like that, I'm about to finish college in 3 weeks.
I get all nostalgic just thinking about it now.

So, I'd like to give a quick shout out to the people who I've been lucky (or unlucky) enough to meet in this past few years. in no particular order.
and a side note: don't get offended if I didn't mention you. I probably forgotten to put your name in or I just don't give a sheep about you. pick whichever reason suits your need best.

so here goes.
kinoc.gayzi.kareppe.nathan.jon.theking.bassboy.nipplizer.wushuboy.shinyboy.josie.naidu.fely.goh.shummy.ivanovic.awan.SOOshi.harimaumuda.syeon.heyyjunee.tifMcD.ladyboss.rayyseann.koreaagirl.aidah.marr.yulie.melbells.

again, these are just the people who I've met after form 1. if I knew you before form 1 then you won't be in this list. So don't go trolling me, spamming my cbox saying that I don't care about you (even if I really don't)

also, check out the debut performance of THE BENCHERS belowww.

The Benchers is comprised of Sean, Jun and of course me.
we were very nervous and only had 1 day of practice so go easy on the criticism yeah?

peace, love and manatees.

2011

"It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me, and I'm feeling good" - Muse

Hell yeah, it's a new day. it's a new year in fact.
funny how 1 day passed, but suddenly 1 year is gone.
So much happened in this year, both good and bad.
But all in all, I had fun. and that's the most important thing right?
so thanks to all you people who spent 2010 with me,
who rode the rollercoaster of life with me for a year, with it's ups, it's sudden drops, the loops, and the turns.
and here's to an even better, more awesome, upgraded, super year ahead.
bye 2010, hello 2011

Music Monday 4.

"racing down this lonely road of silence."

Humdrum Town - Theophilus London.

I have been addicted to this song for some time now. I think it's great. Especially when you listen to it at night. Somehow it just makes you think back of the day, and all the stuff that happened.
The rapping is great, he has really good lyrics. and the overall song is just very awesome.

Music Monday 3.

It's monday again people, so I've got a new song for you guys. and this one will make you feel like chilling at the beach.

You and Your Heart by Jack Johnson

what did i tell you? don't you feel like going surfing? haha.
the opening riff is just pure awesomeness. the moment you hear that riff you know that the whole song is going to be awesome.and that "Chill" vibe just continues throughout the entire song.

and the music video! who knew you can make a whole mv just of yourself surfing. I would say mr. Jack Johnson is probably the most relaxed musician I know.

this song is just perfect for times when you just want to sit back, relax, with an ice cold coke (or beer) in hand and just chill.

and maybe do a little bit of surfing.

Accidents Happen

So, most of you probably know/heard that i got into my first accident.
yeah, i'm fine. aletheia, nicole, shirin and jeremy, who were in my car at that time are fine too.
I thank God for keeping us safe and just protecting us in his arms.

so this is the story.

after an amazing service in G2, (good job annie, it was awesome! =D) me, shirin, aletheia, and nicole headed out to KK to pick up jeremy. we headed to becky's house, in damansara, for anton's birthday party. shirin said she had a GPS *shudder* so we decided to use to get to becky's house. aaandd that's when it all went bad.

the GPS led us to a pretty much the middle of nowhere. halfway through we realised that something must be wrong, because I don't remember having to drive through jungles to get to Damansara. So we switch the destination to The Curve (which is near becky's house). Shirin used that same coordinates before so it should work right? right?

well, it did in a way. it told me to keep driving straight, then turn right. and turn right again. oh and it said 76 km to curve. and that's when you know that you're really really really far away. by that time we were at Kuala Kubu Baru. which is hell far away from Damansara. so we followed the sign boards which said KUALA LUMPUR. so it should be the right way right?

well it was. except that it lead me though some forest. it was a two lane road. with absolutely no lights at all. so I reached a curve in the road. and then suddenly ZOMG! there's a lamp post in front of me! so I slammed on the brakes and turned my steering wheel left as much as I can.

picture is for illustration purposes only.

so basically, I went up that triangle thingy down on the road then up again on a divider. those low ones with grass, not the metal ones, or I would be dead. so, the road I was on apparently had two lanes, one to turn left and one to go straight. but the line was faded so I couldn't even see it. it was pitch black darkness up to that one light so I thought left was the only way to go. oh and i think i drifted before i hit the curb (which shows that my awesomeness is even apparent in dire situations).

thinking back about it, I realised that;
  • if i hadn't turned the wheel enough, I would have rammed straight into that lamp post and that probably wouldn't end well
  • if i had tuned the wheel too much, my car would have flipped when i hit the curb. which also wouldn't end well.
so basically, what i'm trying to say is that, somehow, I managed to get the angle just right. enough so that i won't crash into the lamp post, but not enough to flip. and THAT is only possible with God's help. thank you god.

I crashed in a place called Taman Tasik Teratai, in between the road from Batang Kali to Rawang. Yes, I have never heard of these places before either. shows how far away from civilization I was. also being in the middle of nowhere, it was kinda hard to get help. but I thank God for putting people in my life, who came all the way there to save me. Thank you guys =D.

I went to make a police report after that, and man, that took ages. I was probably in there for 3 hours. and after that extremely boring wait, I got out with a RM200 fine. only reached home at 4am after getting my car to the workshop and all that. I crashed at 9-ish btw.

so yeah, that's basically it.

lessons I learnt;
  1. do not blindly follow your GPS in Malaysia.
  2. do not sign anything when you get out of the car. (had to pay RM550 to transfer the car. sigh.)
  3. do not boast about being uncrashable (because it will bite you back, hard.)
  4. when lost, do not hesitate to ask for help, and not assume you have everything under control.
  5. do wear your seatbelt all the time, because accidents can happen anywhere, anytime.

so once again, i'm fine guys. i only got a tiny scratch. everyone else is fine. thanks for caring and being concerned.

pictures of my car is here

i don't have any pictures of the crash site yet, but i'll post it up when i get them.

that's it guys, peace out.

i thank god for his hand of protection over me, keeping me from harm and taking care of me when i need him the most. i thank god for giving me people who ran to my side the moment i needed help. i thank god for keeping me alive. amen.

Music Monday 2.

It's monday again! so it's time for another song.

WHO KNOWS, WHO CARES by LOCAL NATIVES.

Wow, where do I start? I'm in love with this song.
the haunting vocals with beautiful harmonies, the strings in the build-up, the part where the drum suddenly goes hyper, the awesome bridge, the ending. this song is just beautiful.

what's it about? I have no idea.
probably about living your life the way you want it.
but really, who knows and who cares right?

just listen and enjoy the song.

Music Monday 1.

Hey sup' guys?
this will be my first MUSIC MONDAY post.
what's MUSIC MONDAY you ask?
well, from this week onwards, I'll post a song on my blog every monday.

and this week it's RUNAWAY by KANYE WEST
so Kanye, I'm really happy for you, but you have one of the best videos of all time.

okay not really. but it's is a really nice song with a really nice music video.

I'm really addicted to this song.
from the opening piano notes, right to his rapping. I think it's a brilliant song.
and the ballerinas are graceful and really magnificent just to watch.
one thing though, they just kinda appear out of no where. what's up with that Kanye?

the music video is actually from his short film, also called Runaway.
it's about 30 mins long, and I'd say it's a masterpiece (somewhat).

somehow, I don't think watching the movie will make the music video any more understandable though.
I'm not kidding, even in the movie ballerinas just run into the room from no where.
It's still awesome though.

When the power runs out, we'll just hum

hey guys, I was kinda bored today , I mean it's not like I got an exam to study for right?
so I made a new video. Radiohead's My Iron Lung is the song I covered this time. I've been addicted (again) to this song recently so since I had some free time this afternoon, I made the video.

oh and my dad called me from downstairs halfway through the video, but i'm too lazy to redo it.
so my dad's voice gets a cameo in this one.

I won't see you tonight so I can keep from going insane.

another cover of mine. this time it's Free Loop, by Daniel Powter. it's a really nice song. I just wish I could get someone to play the piano solo for me. Oh yeah, and I messed up the chords at the end. oops? =D

on another note, I really wanna go over to Jon's place for some band hero. so ajak me over quick! this time I won't be late =D
